Ski Touring

As guides, our primary job is to manage mountain-related risk, while still being able to provide an exceptional experience for our guests. COVID is now another type of risk that we as guides and the greater community have a responsibility to manage and navigate together. Our industry is fortunate in that our basic operating area, the backcountry, has vast open space for physical distancing and ample fresh air. To mitigate this new risk within our guiding operation we have decided to only offer day guiding services, no lodge based or mixed group accommodation packages. You and your guide will be required to wear a mask when in confined spaces such as coffee shop meetings, gondolas or helicopters. Our local guides are highly experienced ACMG Ski Guide experts with a passion for their craft - they have been selected for their guiding hard skill competence, but also for their personable nature and teaching skills.

Heli assisted ski touring in the alpine when the storm passes is as good as it gets, and here in Squamish we are blessed with so much incredible alpine terrain right at our doorstep. Our local heliport makes these locations quickly accessible with short, affordable flights.

Can you create the flexibility to take advantage of these conditions when they present themselves?

You will be instructed by qualified ACMG ski guide experts for these critical foundational courses - no lesser qualification (CAA Level 2) will do. Good Avalanche decision making, and companion rescue skill development are critical, so we’ve lowered the guide-to-guest ratio. We keep online theory work to a minimum and get you out in the field. The real benefit comes from being out in the mountains with your guide, in avalanche terrain, making observations and decisions, and getting feedback.

We have a problem in the guiding industry - everyone wants to get out on the weekends. This produces high demand during the weekend and low demand during the week. If you have the flexibility or can create the flexibility I’m going to reward you with lower prices (oh, and just so you know, there’s no one around!)

Having worked for many guiding operations throughout the past 11 years, it has become very obvious what key factors are required for a highly rewarding guided experience. One of the most critical, and often overlooked, factors is early guide-client familiarity - you and your guide should have an opportunity to get to know each other prior to the trip or course. We make this happen by way of a personal phone call before your guided day out.

Our guide to guest ratio is lower than all of our competitors, and we like it that way. The lower the ratio, the better the learning outcome for courses - and the more powder per person. It's also important to us that you receive a more personal experience. Higher group numbers make it harder for the guide to pick up on each client's unique learning or communication needs.
